Windows Phone 7 Destroys The iPhone (Well, Its Foursquare App Does)

Windows Phone 7 Destroys The iPhone (Well, Its Foursquare App Does): "As shown off by Windows Phone Senior Product Manager Anand Iyer on his blog this morning, Foursquare for Windows Phone 7 looks amazing. In fact, it looks much nicer than the recently-revamped version of Foursquare for the iPhone. As you can see in the screenshots, the app has a simple elegance to it, with most of the app being made of different color text against a black background (just about the opposite of Foursquare for the iPhone). Also nice is the maps (Bing, naturally) implementation on the check-in pages, venue pages, and individuals’ profiles"

How Apple Is Dogfighting To Control Your News - ipad - Gawker

How Apple Is Dogfighting To Control Your News - ipad - Gawker: "In short, there's a quiet dogfight going on between Apple and its prospective media partners over the future of the iPad. It's not open warfare; it's the sort of quiet maneuvering you'd expect from parties who, on the one hand, need to cooperate but, on the other, can't stop competing. We've outlined some of the maneuvering below:"

ongoing by Tim Bray Now A No-Evil Zone: "Apple apparently thinks you can have the benefits of the Internet while at the same time controlling what programs can be run and what parts of the stack can be accessed and what developers can say to each other."

Apple sells 50,000 iPads in two hours - Apple 2.0 - Fortune Brainstorm Tech

UPDATES FROM CASTROLL:
2:28 p.m. "We're now at about 74k in 4 1/2 hours."
4:21 p.m. "We're at about 91k in six hours."

Apple sells 50,000 iPads in two hours - Apple 2.0 - Fortune Brainstorm Tech: "'51,000 orders in two hours,' announced Victor Castroll shortly after noon. He's an analyst with Valcent Financial Group and an AAPL Sanity member who, with the blogger-analyst who calls himself deagol, has been monitoring the spreadsheet.

His estimate — which is adjusted for the roughly 15,000 online orders that come in a typical day — jibes with a 20,000-per-hour figure published earlier by Silicon Alley Insider. That number was based on two sales made within 30 minutes that were 10,000 order numbers apart. Rumors from the supply chain suggest that Apple may have as few as 300,000 units available for sale on April 3.

Which iPads are people buying?

The 48 orders (for 54 iPads) reported to AAPL Sanity by Friday afternoon break down as follows:

Wi-Fi-only: 37 units (69%)
Wi-Fi 3G: 17 (31%)
16 GB: 21 (40%)
32 GB: 15 (28%)
64 GB: 18 (33%)"

It’s time for Microsoft to turn itself upside-down

It’s time for Microsoft to turn itself upside-down: "Microsoft is simply too big and too inflexible to really push truly interesting products out the door as fast as they need to. This isn’t any sort of big revelation, but it’s a problem with a solution: turn the company upside-down. Give the people with infinite power to crush and elevate projects direct access to the “garages” (or rather, give the garages access to them) and let them rule their arbitrary way."

Feedly – RSS Reinvented!

Feedly – RSS Reinvented!: "I tried Google Reader but it reminded me too much of all the other RSS readers and clients out there except I accessed it through a web browser rather than a desktop application. Don’t get me wrong, Google Reader has some really wonderful features that make RSS easier to deal with but it still didn’t present it to me in such a way that I enjoyed reading, it was still a chore and at the end of the day one that required management."

Who Wants an iPad? The Young, the Social & the Pop-Culture Addicts

Who Wants an iPad? The Young, the Social & the Pop-Culture Addicts: "Social media data company Rapleaf recently investigated the profiles of users who 'fanned' the iPad on Facebook in order to get a better sense of the type of users who are interested in Apple's upcoming slate device. After analyzing the top three Facebook pages and their respective fanbases, Rapleaf discovered that there were some common themes among these users. The prospective iPad buyers on Facebook are young - much younger than the overall Facebook population, in fact. They're also fairly social, with nearly a third of the fans having over 300 friends. And finally, iPad fans are also very interested in other pop culture activities and themes including various celebs, brands and internet memes."

Nowness.com get LV more than 0.3 million subscribers. (Mr.6)

LV's latest website - Nowness.
Rather than any typical branding site, it focuses on the daily "high-level" stories and it's a "blog".

10 Fantastic Places for Finding Designers Online

10 Fantastic Places for Finding Designers Online: "Unless you are a creative agency, most small businesses don’t have the luxury of having an in-house designer. There are literally thousands of freelance designers and design agencies out there that can fill various niches and services, but finding someone in your price range – and if locale is important, in your area – can be difficult.

Fortunately, there are some great online resources that can take the sting out of searching for a designer. Here are some of my favorites:"

Online drinking parties for younger Japanese

Online drinking parties for younger Japanese: "One way to get around this but still enjoy drinking in groups is to go online. Apparently net nomikai are gaining in popularity, according to reports by J-Cast and others. All you need is a web cam, Skype and a pair of headphones and mic. There is no boss, no seating arrangements — and even no geographical limitations! Obviously it’s a lot cheaper than boozing in an izakaya too, which might appeal to the recession-minded younger drinkers who can’t rely on company expenses."
